DSC USB Token Installation Guide
A safe setup sequence for token drivers, PINs and portal detection.

A safe setup sequence for token drivers, PINs and portal detection. A Digital Signature Certificate is a regulated digital credential, not simply a scanned signature. The correct configuration depends on who is applying, where it will be used, and whether the portal needs signing only or signing with encryption.
Begin by checking the destination portal’s current instructions. Use the same spelling of the applicant or organisation name across PAN, registration records and the DSC application. Small mismatches can create avoidable delays or registration errors later.
Quick checklist
- Download drivers from the token maker or trusted provider
- Change default PIN where supported
- Never share token PIN or remote desktop access casually
Verification and safe handling
The application normally includes contact verification and identity checks, and may include video verification as required by the issuing Certifying Authority. Complete these steps yourself. Do not share OTPs, token PINs or identity credentials with an unknown caller.
After issuance, the certificate is downloaded to a compatible cryptographic token where applicable. Install the correct driver, choose a strong PIN and keep the token with the authorised signatory. A DSC should never be passed around like a common office pen drive.
Portal registration is a separate step from certificate issuance. Browser utilities, signer applications and token drivers may need to be installed or updated. Test access before a filing or tender deadline, and keep the certificate expiry date in your compliance calendar.
If the token is lost or the private key may be compromised, contact the issuing authority or authorised support channel promptly about revocation. Never attempt to copy or email a private key. Good operational habits are as important as the certificate technology itself.
Portal and CA requirements can change. Confirm current instructions before purchase or submission.
